New Hanover County
New Hanover County holds the city of Wilmington and the beach towns of Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. It is one of North Carolina's coastal counties, so wind and hail coverage on some homes, especially near the beaches, is written by the North Carolina Insurance Underwriting Association (NCIUA) rather than the main homeowners insurer. Hurricane Florence made landfall near Wrightsville Beach in September 2018, and roof claims from that storm shaped how many local roofs were rebuilt.

Brunswick County
Brunswick County runs from Leland and Belville across the Cape Fear River from Wilmington down to Southport, Oak Island and the South Brunswick Islands. It is one of the fastest-growing counties in the state, so many roofs are newer, but newer roofs still take wind damage on the coast. On September 5, 2026, trees were reported down on Hawk's Nest Drive in Leland during thunderstorms, according to NOAA storm reports.

Pender County
Pender County covers Burgaw, Hampstead along U.S. 17 and part of Topsail Island at Surf City. On October 11, 2026, a tornado was observed near Atkinson as the remnants of Hurricane Isaias crossed the state; the National Weather Service found no damage there and said the circulation likely stayed elevated. On September 5, 2026, fallen trees caused widespread power outages near Currie.
